Rimbalo

What you can check yourself

In mono, what you can check, with where to look. In the serif, what we say about it.

On Android

android.permission.INTERNET is not in this app.

Play Store → Rimbalo → About this app → App permissions

Android will not let an app open a network connection without it. An app that uploads cannot ship without it, so the list has no network access line. You can check this before you install.

On both

There is no sign-in screen and no account.

Open Rimbalo. It starts at your dictations.

After a week, the phone’s own counter shows no data for this app.

Android: Settings → Apps → Rimbalo → Mobile data & Wi-Fi

iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → App Privacy Report. Turn it on first: it counts from then.

Turn on airplane mode and dictate. The finished text is on the screen before you turn it off again.

Android: swipe down from the top of the screen → Airplane mode. iPhone: Control Center → Airplane Mode.

This shows where the work happens. It does not show where the audio goes: the checks above do that.

On iPhone

otool -L and nm -u list every framework the app links and every symbol it imports.

On a Mac, run both on the app’s binary.

No release is built unless the same check passes. Two frameworks in it can reach a network, and both belong to the operating system: StoreKit, for your purchase, and Background Assets, which downloads the speech models from the App Store. Neither is given your audio. If any other appears, the build fails.

What it does not do

It writes a sentence at a time, not a word at a time: the text appears each time you pause, not as you speak.

The stores’ own summary, self-declared by us, like everyone else’s

The App Store listing says Data Not Collected. The Google Play listing says No data collected.

App Store → Rimbalo → App Privacy. Play Store → Rimbalo → Data safety.
